(29 Jan 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Wife of 'Cap' Mitchell Passes Away at Hospital in Wichita, Kas. Following a lingering illness of about seven months duration, Mrs. Lillie M. Mitchell, 56, wife of "Cap" Mitchell, of this city, passed away yesterday afternoon at a hospital in Wichita, Kan. Mrs. Mitchell had been in the hospital for the past three months and for several days prior to her death no hope for her recovery was held. Mr. Mitchell and two of the couple's three children, Mrs. F. L. Kyle, of this city, a daughter, and Whitten M. Mitchell, a son, were at her bedside when death came. Mr. Kyle, who was in this city at the time, left immediately for Wichita. Born in Missouri. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Ray county, Missouri, Oct. 21, 1873 and died yesterday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock, age 56 years, three months and seven days. She grew to womanhood in Ray county and on Dec. 24, 1890, was married to Mr. Mitchell. To this union four children, three sons and a daughter, were born. The youngest child, Seabie, a son, died in infancy, and the others, Grover C. Mitchell, Whitten M. Mitchell and Mrs. Pauline Kyle, together with the husband, survive. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Herbert Hope Mortuary at Excelsior Springs, Mo. Active with her husband and her son-in-law, Mr. Kyle, in the publication here of The Journal, Mrs. Mitchell had many friends and was well-known throughout this section. News of her passing, received here late yesterday afternoon, was received with deep regret by her friends and by friends of the family.
