MAY JOHNSON MITCHELL The following resolutions were published in the Butler Herald by the Order of the Eastern Star of that place, in memory of Mrs. C. E. Mitchell, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. T. E. Johnson of Elk City, who died October 14th, 1918: RESOLUTIONS OF SYMPATHY Whereas, it has pleased Almighty God, Supreme Worthy Patron of the Universe, to remove from our midst our beloved Sister May Johnson Mitchell. And whereas, our hearts are sad because of the loss of our Sister, and her going has left a void that can never be filled, yet we bow in humble submission to the will of Him who doeth all things well. Now, therefore, be it resolved by Butler Chapter No. 261 Order of the Eastern Star, of which Sister Mitchell was a true and faithful member, that we tender our heartfelt sympathy and condolence to her husband, father, mother, brothers and sister in this dark hour of affliction, but point them to the bright assurance that as a true and faithful Star, our sister has gone to the reward of a short but well spent life. That in the loss of Sister Mitchell, Butler Chapter has lost a true and devoted member, the husband a loving and faithful wife and the parents a kind and dutiful child. Resolved further, that these resolutions be spread on the minutes of the Chapter and a copy be furnished the husband and parents and a copy be published in the Butler Herald. E. A. Olmstead, S. D. Grandstaff, Mrs. Ida Grandstaff, Committee. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
