All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ MORGAN, CARLAS (20 Jun 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Carlas Morgan was born at Birmingham, Alabama, October 16, 1903, and departed this life June 5, 1929, age 25 years, 7 months, 20 days. He came with his parents from Alabama to Atwood, Oklahoma, when 2 years old. He attended the school at Atwood until 18 years of age then moved with his parents to a farm seven miles south of Foss. On October 16, 1924, he was married to Miss Minnie Thomas of Canute. Born to this union was one son, little Glenn. In February, 1928, they were divorced and in October 1928 he was married to Nora Phillips of Clinton. Two weeks before his death by suicide, he had been at the home of his parents and had expressed a desire to see his little son and had asked his mother to accompany him to Canute to see him. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Morgan, and six brothers, Ernest, Hewett, Edgar, Jay, Clarence and Jesse and three sisters, Vesta, Bessie and Vera. Funeral services were held at North Burns (Washita County) by the Rev. Ira Brumfield of Foss. He was laid to rest beside Chester, a brother, two years his senior, who preceded him in death just four weeks.
