Mr. Morgan had been in poor health since January, complaining of severe pains in the stomach, though he was able to be going around most of the time. On Friday morning as usual he was up and out early feeding and looking after the hogs. When he came in the house he complained of feeling badly and sat down on the bed. A few moments later he told his wife that that thing in his stomach had bursted as he heard it pop, and that he was sick at his stomach. Mrs. Morgan secured a vessel for him and he vomited a gallon of pure blood. When the paroxism (sic) of vomiting was over he was dead. Mr. Morgan was born in Alabama in 1854, in 1876 he was married to Miss Julia Cravens. To this union was born ten children, all living. Among the children are Mrs. W. W. Turpin of this city, Mrs. Berger of Canute and John Morgan a former resident of this place. The deceased was a brother of Mrs. Robt. Lovelady of Elk City. Funeral services were held at the Sullivan burying grounds near Carpenter Saturday, where the body was laid to rest, conducted by Rev. Stankey. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
