Morris Funeral services for Roy L. Morris were conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Martin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Boyd Whitehead and Rev. Jerry Lane officiating. Burial followed in the Sayre-Doxey cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home. Mr. Morris was born Jan. 2, 1904 in Erath, Texas, and died Saturday at the age of 86. He was baptized in the Methodist Church when he was a young boy. He was married to Myrtle McMenamy at Lubbock, Texas on Feb. 18, 1925. They had one son, Dwayne. Roy was a farmer all his life except for the four years that he worked in the shipyard in California. He served on the Doxey School Board for several years, on the Famers Co-op Gin Board as Director for 34 years, and on the Producer Co-op Oil Board at Oklahoma City for 19 years. Survivors include his wife Myrtle of the Elk City home; one son, Dwayne Morris, of Tuttle; one grandson, Patrick Morris of Yukon, and two sisters, Bertha and Bula Ramsey, both of Gardena, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and seven brothers. Those desiring may send memorial contributions to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
