He was married to Letha Shepherd Sept. 8, 1881. "Uncle Tom", as he was always called by everyone, was loved and respected by everybody. He was always so jolly and spoke a good word for everyone. He came to Elk City in 1901 and filed on a farm five miles northwest of town. Then later moved to Elk City where he lived at the time of his death. He became ill about three years ago from which it seemed as though he could not overcome. Everything was done for him that loving hands could do, but our dear Savior, who watches and cares for all, called him to rest. He leaves to mourn his death a wife, son, daughter and two brothers, Joe Monson, Grant Co., Ky.; James Monson, Convention, Ky.; and three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Readnour, Hickman, Ky., Mrs. Mary Newman, Tallahina, Okla., Mrs. Salla Price of Alton, Kansas, and three grand-children, Doris Jr., Thomas and Richard Monson. The was laid to rest in the Fairlawn cemetery. May God bless each and everyone is our prayer. Mrs. Letha Monson, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Monson, Mr. and Mrs. E. Z. Gosdin. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
