His body was prepared for burial by Gentry-Killough. The date for funeral services will be announced. (10 Jan 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Hoyt Murry (sic) died at his home January 4, 1929, at the age of 16 years and 5 months. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church. Rev. H. W. Shirley officiated. Interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery. Gentry-Killough in charge. The double funeral at the First Baptist church last Sunday afternoon when the last final earthly remains of the two young Murry (sic) boys were laid to rest, was one of the saddest experiences we have ever witnessed. Hoyte and Koy Murray, sons of Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Murry, living three miles south of Elk City, died as a result of flu and pneumonia. Koy was born October 2, 1907, in Tennessee, and died December 31, 1928, in Elk City at the age of 21 years, 2 months and 29 days. Hoyte was born April 28, 1912, also in the state of Tennessee, and died at his home south of Elk City January 4, 1929, at the age of 16 years, 8 months and 4 days. The auditorium of the First Baptist church was crowded to overflowing Sunday afternoon as friends and acquaintances joined loved ones in their last tribute of respect for the deceased loved ones. May the Heavenly Father's richest blessing abound toward, especially the much bereaved father and mother, and all the loved ones. Certainly our God is too wise to make a mistake and too good to do an injury so therefore, "All things work together for good to those that love the Lord, and to those who are called according to His purpose." --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
