He lived his allotted time, being over three score years and ten. He was a good Christian man. Although being an invalid for over three years he was always kind and cheerful, and Grandpa, as he was always called, will be missed by all. He was married in 1864 to Margaret Kling. To this union were born ten children, seven boys and three girls, four having preceded him to the great beyond. One, Mrs. Lizzie Siglin of Elk City. The ones living are John Mutschler of Inez, Texas; George Mutschler of Oregon; Mrs. P. O. Sandle, Okla.; and Jacob, Will and Adam Mutschler of Elk City. All were present at his funeral except George. He came to the United States in 1880 to Lincoln, Illinois. He then moved to Eastern Oklahoma in 1892 where he lived until 1901, when he moved to this part of the state and homesteaded west of Elk City, where he lived until death called him away. Besides his living children he leaves an aged wife to mourn his departure, and a host of relatives and friends. His funeral was held at the M. E. Church, South, on Friday, February 13, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Bro. Root of near Carpenter, a real dear friend of Grandpa and Grandma Mutschler and family. He took as his text the 5th chapter and 14th verse of Job, and spoke comforting words to the bereaved. The Sand Ridge choir furnished the music. His casket was covered with beautiful flowers. The pall bearers were Oscar and Hugo Nagle, Dave Parnell, Eddie Canavan, Henry Shough and Dave Wilson. His body was laid to rest in West Fairlawn Cemetery, with Gentry-Killough in charge. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
