(19 Jul 1911, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Elder J. F. Neher J. F. Neher was born in Clinton County, Indiana, April 7, 1845, was married in 1864 to Miss Marguerite Beydler, to this union was born eight boys and two girls, his wife died in 1887. He was married to Miss Edith May Thompson, she lived but one year after their marriage. He then moved to California where he was married to Miss Kate Miller, who survives him. She is the mother of one daughter, Estella, who lives with her. His son Harvey of Coyle, Oklahoma, was with him at the time of his death. Funeral services held at the Dunkard church, Wednesday morning conducted by Eld. E. F. Smith of this place. Eld. Neher was the beloved pastor of the Church of the Brethren of this city and it was largely through his untiring efforts that the present church house was built and the congregation built up as it is. His familiar figure and genial countenance is gone from us, but his labor of love is a continuous monument more lasting than marble.
