All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ NEWBY, ROSS EARNEST (10 Nov 1927, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. Ross Earnest Newby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Newby, was born in Ellis County, Texas, May 15, 1885. The family moved to Wichita County in 1886, removed to Oklahoma in 1896, where Ross has lived for the greater part of the time. He was married to Miss Ludie Snowden of Cheyenne, Okla., Feb. 27, 1907. No children were born to this union. His health failed June 9, 1926, he was taken to Oklahoma City for treatment (remaining six weeks). Thence to Wichita Falls, where he departed this life October 28, 1927. He made a profession of faith in Christ as his personal Savior in May, 1917, was baptised by Rev. E. N. Campbell and united with the Baptist Church of Retrop, Okla. He lived a consistent member of this church until his death October 28, 1927, age 42 years, 5 months and 13 days. Mr. Newby is survived by his wife, two sisters, Miss Laura Newby of Wichita Falls and Mrs. Affie Hart of Elk City, Okla., and a host of other relatives and friends in Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois. Mr. Newby was a highly respected man in every way and loved by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, October 30, at 3:00 p.m., by Rev. E. N. Campbell, of Norman, Okla., and laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
