He was united in marriage to Verna Hasty October 11, 1908. To this union four children were born, Bernard, 18 years, Edgar, 16 years, Ralph 12 years and Thelma Lee 7 years, who are left without the love and care of a father. He also leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Mrs. Verna Newman, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Newman, and two sisters, Mable and Carr Newman. Also a brother, Horace Newman, all of Magazine, Ark. A sister, Mrs. Clara Meddlin, also of Arkansas and a brother Orville Newman of Elk City. Brother Newman was converted at the age of 15 years, and later united with the Baptist church near Magazine, Ark. In 1925 he and his family moved into this community. He joined the Hebron Baptist church where he and his family worshipped when his health permitted. In his testimony at prayer meeting when he was leader, he said there was no doubt he knew he was saved. Funeral services were held January 30, 1929, at Hebron with Rev. J. J. Risinger, officiating, and the body was laid to rest in the Hebron cemetery. Bro. Newman was a good husband, father, neighbor and citizen. A place in the home, church and community has been left vacant which cannot be filled and we, the committee appointed by the Hebron church, extend to the bereaved family and relatives in your sorrow, the sympathy of the neighbors and members of the Hebron church.
