(15 Feb 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF JOSEPH R. NICHOLS Joe Nichols, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Nichols, died this morning at four o'clock, after an illness of several weeks of flu, pneumonia, then typhoid fever. He was born May 20,1889, being past thirty-three years of age. He was bon in Tenn., going to Texas when small, and moving to Oklahoma about twenty-five years ago, living in Ural neighborhood until about five years ago the family moved to Elk City. He spent a couple of years in Detroit but has been here the past two years. He leaves his parents, three sisters and three brothers to mourn his loss. A brother, Carter, died at Camp Cody during the late war. His sisters, Minnie and Ethel will be here from Detroit today. His brother Ed arrived from Booker, Texas yesterday, and W. O. arrived today from Booker.
