For the past year he had been a citizen of our town and had occupied the position of head miller at the American Milling Company. In this capacity he had proven himself to be an expert at his trade and a man whose business ability and integrity was never called into question. Mr. Nichols was born in Arkansas and principally reared at Denton, Texas, where he married Miss Lora Klepper. Two children were born into their home, one of whom, a fourteen year old son, Willie, survives. At the time of his death, besides his son and wife, there were present his two sisters, Mrs. May Sherrill of Pauls Valley, and Mrs. Cleo Miles of Purcell, and his father-in-law, W. A. Klepper of Denton. He is also survived by his mother at Muskogee and a brother in the service at Fort Sill. Deceased was a few months past thirty-two years of age. He had never affiliated with the church, but his consistent life speaks for itself in his spiritual behalf. He was a member of the Oddfellows, Praetorians and Knights and Ladies of Security. He was peculiarly devoted to his house and his few hours off duty to his employers were spent in making home a better place to live. He was an ideal husband, father, and citizen, a congenial friend, and his life is a mute, though wholesome, admonition to those who are disposed to regard lightly the deeper things of existence. The remains were shipped at 2:20 Sunday for Denton, Texas, where the funeral was scheduled for the following afternoon. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
