NUGENT Last Friday morning when Mrs. Jenkins went to awaken her mother for breakfast she found that she had passed away a short time before. She lay as if asleep, and there was no struggle. The doctor pronounced that her death was caused from cirrhosis of the arteries. Funeral services were held from St. Joseph's church on Monday morning and interment made at Calvary cemetery in charge of Grubitz & Son. Mrs. Nugent was one of Elk City's pioneers, coming to this place in 1900, making the trip with wagon from Weatherford, and lived in one of the first rooming houses built in Elk City during her entire residence here. She was known by all the early settlers, but of late her health has been poorly and she was scarcely ever away from home. Hannah Nugent, daughter of John and Margaret Barrett, was born in Ireland, Aug. 15, 1838. When nine months old her parents emigrated to America, living in New York City until she was nineteen years old. She was married to John Nugent on April 9, 1861, at Joliet, Ill., where her parents moved. In 1876 they moved to Iowa and in 1900 to Oklahoma. She died Aug. 20, 1920. Mr. Nugent died July 19, 1915. She was the mother of eleven children, eight of whom survive her, namely: Sister Mary A'Greda of Louis, Mrs. Julia Glawe, Bernville, Minn., William Nugent, Weboux, Mont., Mrs. Ellen Robinson, Dallas, Texas, Edward Nugent, Joroso, Col., Mrs. Catherine Schall, Pocahontas, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Jenkins and Jack Nugent of Elk City.
