All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ PAYNE, SARAH LOU (The Elk City Daily News, Elk City, Beckham, Ok, 2 Dec 1952) Mrs. Sarah Lou Payne Services for Mrs. Sarah Lou Payne, 74, a pioneer of Beckham county, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist church. Mrs. Payne died Sunday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Her home was at 620 West C and she was a member of the Methodist Church. She and her husband came here in 1898 from Texas and lived here until 1915, moving to New Mexico. They returned here in 1945. She is survived by her husband, Charley; three sisters, Mrs. C. W. Bicket, Elk City; Mrs. Cora Dean, Fresno, Calif., and Mary King, Caruthers, Calif., and six brothers, Will Tyler, Hamilton, Tex.; Joe Tyler, Bakersfield, Calif.; Frank Tyler, Hico, Tex.; Jim Tyler, Edmond; Elvin Tyler, Oakland, Calif.; and Walter Tyler, Sayre. Rev. J. Cecil Coover will officiate and burial will be in Carter cemetery with Martin-Hullum in charge.
