All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ PAYNE, JAMES MARION (23 Dec 1920, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): James Marion Payne - born April 8, 1870, died December 14, 1920, aged 50 years, 8 months and 6 days. Mr. Payne confessed Christ at the age of 18 and was united with the M. E. Church, south. He has been a true member and was a faithful worker in his church as long as his health permitted. He had been in poor health for over a year caused from a cancer and all that could be done was done, but the Heavenly Father saw best to take him away. He lived on a farm near Dempsey (Roger Mills County) until a few months ago when he was taken to Elk City where he remained until his death. He leaves a wife and six children, besides other relatives and friends to mourn his death. Mr. Payne was married to Ollie May Jones, December 31, 189? (unclear). Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Coffee assisted by Rev.
