All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ PECINOVSKY, CHARLES ANTON (22 Apr 1926, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Charles Anton Pecinovsky died at the Santa Fe Hospital at Mulvane, Kansas, at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 9 days, after an illness of four months. He was buried at Stratford, Okla., April 16, 1926, in the McGee cemetery, died April 13, 1926, was born at Spillivle, Iowa. At the age of 21, he married Miss Anna Slifka, also of Spillivle, to this union eight children were born, one dying in infancy. In 1920 they adopted two children. He first settled south of Canute, Oklahoma. Before any railroads were built and Weatherford was the nearest trading point. In 1919 he moved to Stratford, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife and nine children, mother, four sisters, four brothers and seventeen grandchildren. His children, Edward Pecinovsky of Elk City, Mrs. Ruth Mechek of Canute, Okla., Mrs. Victoria Sublett of Shamrock, Texas, Mrs. Elizabeth Dysart of Canute, Okla., Mrs. Abbie Dokovpil of Caddo, Okla., Mrs. Lena Finley of Stratford, Okla., Arthur Pecinovsky of Arkansas City, Kansas and the two adopted children. Garland who is now 17 years of age and Miss Lena May who is fifteen, they are still at home and his brother, A. W. Pecinovsky of Oklahoma City, were all with him to the last. Funeral services were held at his home through the Christian Church of Stratford, Oklahoma, and by his own request which was most expressive and sad was that his body be hauled by his own spotted horses, which he was so fond and attached to and the horses seemed to know they were taking their faithful master away by their actions. He was a most devoted husband and father and always willing to take his childrens burdens in his own hands to make it easier for them.
