Prior to his late illness Fred was a strong robust boy, in perfect health. Early last spring he was stricken with muscular rheumatism which gradually grew on him and on the 9th of April was confined to his bed. Everything was done that loving parents and friends could do to alleviate his suffering and restore him to health but all to no avail. His suffering became more intense yet he was patient and remained conscious to the last. He became perfectly reconciled and expressed a willingness to go. Funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. J. Ewell, pastor of the United Brethren Church, after which the remains were taken to the city cemetery followed by a large concourse of sympathizing friends. Fred was in his eighteenth year and why he was taken from us is one of the mysteries of our all wise Providence. Card of Thanks We wish to thank the many kind friends and neighbors for their kindness during the long suffering and death of our dear son and we feel assured there is a great reward awaiting you. J. S. and Hattie Pettus. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
