N. Poarch Dead. Sorrow was cast over our community again when it was learned that W. N. Poarch had passed away on Sunday, December (sic) 18th, at 8:20 a.m., at his home four miles west and one south of Berlin. Mr. Poarch and family came to this country in the early days and had a wide acquaintance. He had been in poor health for several months taking worse about December 14th, from which time he was not up again. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at Berlin, on Monday, at 2 o'clock, p.m., and was conducted by Mr. Ed Isom. He read the 14th chapter of St. John and said many things to help the bereaved wife and daughter in this great trial, for a place in their home is vacant which never can be filled. A good man has gone from us, one whom we all loved and respected. His body was laid to rest in Berlin Cemetery (Roger Mills County). He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs. Artie Grimes. (30 Jan 1925, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): W. N. Poarch William Newton Porch (sic) was born near Russelville, Cole county, Mo., August 24th, 1849. Departed this life Jan. 18, 1925, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 24 days. In the year of 1879 he was united in marriage at Butler, Mo., to Miss Weihelmina Carolina Hokanson of Andover, Henry county, Ill. After this marriage they located in Kingman county, Kansas, where he engaged in grocer and drug business for about six years, returning to Butler, Mo., where he again engaged in grocery business, for about four years, when failing health compelled him to seek outdoor employment. Mr. Poarch traveled for his health, later coming to Oklahoma residing at Weatherford. From there he came to Roger Mills county, filed on a claim near Berlin, this being twenty-five years ago, and he made it his home up to time of his death, which was caused by Bright's disease. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Artie Grimes both who live on the home place, one sister, Mrs. Mary Pettis, and one brother, J. W. Porch (sic), both of Butler, Mo. Mr. Porch (sic) was baptized into the Christian Church at Berlin, on August 21, 1921, and lived a devoted Christian ever after. He was a devoted husband and loving father.
