(11 Jan 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): W. A. RANDLE PASSES AWAY Rev. W. A. Randle a former pastor of Elk City died Wednesday, Jan. 3rd, at Weatherford, Oklahoma. He was also the presiding elder for the Clinton district and was well known among our people. The Weatherford Democrat had the following in last week about Mr. Randle. William A. Randle was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama, May 2, 1857. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary O'Briant, March 10, 1878. To them were born ten children, two of whom died in infancy. The remaining eight have long been known in this community, all of them are married and were present during his last illness and death. The names of the children are: Mrs. Alice Felts, Sam M. Randle, present mayor of the town, Mrs. Carrie Goodrich, William, who is in business in Putnam; Rivers M., who is superintendent of the public schools; Wilbur, of El Reno schools; Mrs. Mary Williams of this city and Mrs. Inez Hensley of Hydro. Rev. Randle was licensed to preach before he was twenty years of age and entered the Conference in Alabama, later transferring to the North Texas Conference, and then to the Oklahoma Conference in 1894. He was sent to Weatherford in Oct. 1898 as presiding Elder and organized the church in Weatherford Dec. 12, of the same year. He served as Presiding Elder four years and then was pastor for a number of years, and returned as Presiding Elder again. His influence has long been felt in Weatherford and his passing will be felt as a personal loss to the people of our community. Rev. Randle was an author of note, having published several widely read books. The funeral service will be preached this afternoon at the M. E. Church, South, by the pastor, Rev. J. W.
