(20 Sep 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): OBITUARY. Mrs. J. M. Rice Elizabeth C. Bandy, daughter of William Fletcher and Jerusia Bandy was born near Terra Haute, Indiana, Feb 2, 1863, died at her home near Sweetwater, Oklahoma, September 8, 1923, age 60 years, 7 months and 6 days. She was married to J. M. Rice at Terra Haute, Indiana, March 11, 1886. She leaves five children to mourn her loss - Ethel Whitlock of Canton, Kansas; Carrie Swick of McPherson, Kansas; Ripie Fowler, Coy and Albert Rice at home; twelve grandchildren, Marie and Boyd Whitlock, Emery, Adrian, Lucille and Marion Swick, Harold, Ripie Elen, Howard, Helen and Dale Rice and Leona Fae Fowler. Two sisters, Mrs. Belle Bozarth of Terra Haute, Indiana and Mrs. Elizara Sellers of Canton, Kansas. Two brothers, Easom Bandy of Vermillion, Illinois and Elexander (sic) Bandy of Sanford, Indiana, and a host of friends and relatives. She united with the Christian church about 25 years ago and lived an upright Christian life ever since. To know her was to love her. Funeral services were conducted by Rev.
