Mrs. S. P. Richardson died at her home on West 6th street last Friday after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church by Rev. J. W. Trevette, assisted by Rev. C. A. Martin. Interment was held at the Fairlawn cemetery. The deceased came to Elk City last winter in order to receive treatment from local physicians. The family had previously lived near Sayre, where they have a host of friends who will sympathize with the bereaved family in their loss. Obituary has been promised later. (5 Aug 1920, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): OBITUARY Lida Eleanor Richardson was born in East Tennessee, August 9, 1870; died at Elk City, Okla., July 23, 1920, aged 49 years, 11 months and 23 days. She was united in marriage to S. P. Richardson Dec. 23, 1888, at Filley, Nebraska. Four children were born to this union, one son and three daughters, who are all living and were at her bedside when she passed away. She leaves a husband, four children, an aged mother, four brothers, two sisters and a host of friends. Her father and one sister preceded her to the spirit world several years ago. She was converted at an early age and lived a consistent Christian life ever since. She had been afflicted for several years and had been confined to her bed for nearly three months. She was a most patient sufferer all through her sickness, never complaining, always thinking of others first, willing to bear it all, ready and willing to answer the Master's call. The writer was an old neighbor and friend of the family and was called to Elk City to assist Rev. Trevette with the funeral services. We were pleased to find so many of the old neighbors and friends of the family present. This shows that the family were highly respected as true Christian folks. Our sympathy and prayers are with the bereaved husband and children, and may they live the life that the wife and mother lived and join her in heaven. Rev. C. A. Martin. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
