(7 May 1903, Thursday, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Uncle Johnnie Richerson. Uncle Johnnie Richerson, proprietor of the Uncle John's Wagon Yard, is one of the oldest settlers in Oklahoma. He came to the territory years ago when the Indians were many and saucy and killed buffaloes all over our plains. Many an interesting story can he relate of hot times in Indian days. He started a wagon yard at the opening of Elk City, and, as he has always been a constant advertiser and kept his name before the people, he does the largest business and meets with prosperity.
