All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ ROBBINS, DANIEL (26 Sep 1918, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK) DANIEL ROBBINS. Born in St. Joe, Mo., October 17th, 1839, died in Elk City, Oklahoma, September 23, 1918. Funeral services were held at the residence, on South Adams Street, 2:00 o'clock P.M., Tuesday, September 24th, Rev. W. A. Posey, officiating. Interment in the West Fairlawn Cemetery, Geo. R. Grubitz & Son in charge. Mr. Robbins resided in St. Joe, Mo., until the Civil War. He than enlisted and served as a confederate soldier through the entire period of the war. At the close of the war he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Harrison near Paris, Texas, August 24th, 1865. They lived together fifty-three years. To this union was born three girls who reside at the following places: Mrs. T. H. Taylor of Elk City, Okla. Mrs. Jim Parks, Drumright, Okla. Mrs. Riley, Hansford, Texas. There are ten grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Robbins lived most of their lives at Belton, Texas. Seventeen years ago they moved to Texmo, Okla., and ten years ago they moved to Elk City, where they lived until his death, September 23rd, at 7:40 A.M. He was not a member of any church, but professed faith in Jesus Christ and had a high regard for all professing Christianity. He became a Mason in his early life and was ready to prove himself worthy and well qualified for all duties placed upon him by the principals involved in the obligations of the Order. Our people will miss Uncle Dan, who had made so many friends among us.
