(15 Feb 1917, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): OBITUARY. Benjamin Franklin Roberson was born in Platte Co., Missouri, October 15, 1845, and died at Elk City, Okla., February 7, 1917, aged 71 years, 3 months and 22 days. Mr. Roberson spent his early childhood and manhood on the old home place where he was born and where he lived until the age of forty when he moved to Texas, residing there four years, then to Burr Oak, Kansas. At this place he was always known as "Ben". With his jovial laugh and happy smile for every one he made many friends. No father could have been more indulging nor a husband more sympathetic. He united with the M. E. church in Burr Oak several years ago and was endowed with a simple trusting faith that was unusual. He enjoyed singing hymns and talking of his Heavenly home where he had a blessed assurance of a glorious reunion of loved ones. His affliction for the past five years has been most unusual, but through it all the dear wife has shown a devotion which spared no time, love, money, nor constant care. No task or duty was ever too hard for her to perform for him. He leaves a kind devoted wife, three children, J. J. Roberson of Elk City, Okla.; Mrs. Rose Epperson, Elk City, Okla., and Mrs. Lillie Mann of Burr Oak, Kansas; four grand children; three brothers and a host of friends to mourn his departure. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
