OK BESSIE (BROWN) ROBINSON Posted by Joan (DeFore) Garvey for Elk City Library Elk City Paper, Beckham Co., OK BESSIE (BROWN) ROBINSON Bessie ROBINSON was born July 29, 1914 at Alto, Texas to Henry and Gatt (NEELEY) BROWN and passed away Tuesday at the age of 83. She was married to Buck ROBINSON on June 10, 1944 at Wheeler, Texas and shortly thereafter moved to Elk City where she has lived since. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck of 54 years, her oldest daughter, Martha Lou GIBSON and one grandson, Dwight GIBSON. She jooined Mt. Carmel Church in 1972 under the leadership of Rev. W. E. GRAVES where she was a faithful and active member where she was president of the Bus Committee, Pastor Aide, Treasurer and member of the Adult Sr. Choir. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone she met. Survivors include 4 daughters; Mrs. Lula WATKINS, Mrs. Martha EVANS and Ms. Vesta ROBINSON all of Elk City and Mrs. Ammie BOYD of Bakersfield, California. 1 brother, Wallace BROWN and 2 sisters, Louisa FRANK and Ammie SUSHIN all of Alto, Texas, 36 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
