Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service. Roxie Jewel Rose was born February 8, 1912 in Soper to Mary Ann Addel and Lemuel Douglas Stone and died Monday in Bell Avenue Nursing Center Elk City at the age of 90. She moved to Blair at the age of 3 years and then to Sayre at the age of 5 years. Roxie was married to Bryan Haskell Rose at Sayre on August 6, 1929 and they moved to Elk City. Roxie cooked and worked in restaurants and at the old Tisdale Hospital as her children were growing up. She was also a switchboard operator and volunteer at the Community Hospital. She was a member of the North East Church of Christ and the Citizen Potawatomi Indian Nation. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Linda Rose of Denver, Colorado, Wanda Maassen of Fence Lake, New Mexico; one brother, Douglas Stone of Shawnee; one granddaughter and two great grandchildren.
