All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ ROYSTON, FRANK (3 May 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): (For Last Week) The body of Frank Royston was buried in Edwardsville cemetery (Washita county) 11 miles northwest of Foss, last Friday afternoon, the Masonic lodge of Arapaho, of which he was a member, giving an impressive ceremony. The funeral service was held at the Baptist church at Arapaho at 2 p.m. Friday. The sermon being preached by Rev. Harry Morgan of Clinton. Mr. Royston was born at Pattonsburg, Mo., August 12, 1883, being at the time of his death 39 years, 7 months and 23 days old. When he was a small boy his father died, leaving his mother two small children to rear and care for. When Frank was 16 years old the family moved to the Edwardsville neighborhood in Custer county, Oklahoma, and took a homestead and resided there for 18 years. Five years ago the family moved to Arapaho, where Frank became deputy sheriff under sheriff Ben Monroe. He held this position until last January when he accepted work at Sayre. In 1905 Mr. Royston married to Miss Gertie Bates. To them was born a son, Hubert. The wife and mother died in January 1911. Surviving the deceased are the son, Hubert and mother, Mrs. Lizzie Royston, both of Arapaho; three uncles, W. S. McLaughlin, Cosmopolis, Wash.; A. W. McLaughlin, Oklahoma City; R. H. McLaughlin, Foss. Mrs. Kate Fullwider and Mrs. Maggie Durham both of Canute, Oklahoma, two aunts and a number of cousins in Mo. Frank was converted and joined the Baptist church at about the date of his marriage. He moved his membership to Arapaho and helped to establish the Baptist church at that place. Having resided in the vicinity of Foss for eighteen years, Frank enjoyed a wide acquaintance in this community. In 1912 he was manager of the Harris-Irby gin at Foss. He was held in the highest esteem and had the confidence of all who knew him.
