(9 Jan 1919, Thursday, Southwest Press, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): C. W. Ruckman and wife of this city were called to Oklahoma City last Sunday week on account of the illness and death of Roy J. Ruckman, brother of C. W. His brother Cecil and sisters, Mrs. Mable Walker of Arnet (sic), and Mrs. Lena Walters of Oklahoma City, and his mother, Mrs. Emma Ruckman, were also present at the death. Interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery at Oklahoma City. Mrs. C. W. Ruckman had just returned from a sister's near Beaver, Okla., the Sunday before, where she had been helping with flu patients, to find Mr. Ruckman here in bed with the flu. She got Mr. Ruckman on his feet at once, and they both left for his brother's at once. Mr. Ruckman's death was caused by influenza. Although he lived on the edge of Oklahoma City, it was impossible to secure a doctor before his death. Roy J. Ruckman of 2400 West 34th street, Oklahoma City, died Sunday morning, December 29, 1918, at the age of 30 years.
