A. Scales, on Sunday night, aged 95 years, 3 months and 2 days. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church South on Monday afternoon, Rev. DeVore officiating. He said there was nothing he could say to add more beauty, purity, holiness and righteousness than had been lived in the life of Mother Scales. She was one of the dearest women he ever met and he never heard her say a single word against anyone. She was always speaking of the beautiful things in others. She was so patient and good. Her life was a sermon in itself. She was bon in North Carolina, July 28, 1827, and belonged to the first families of that state. She was a woman of high intelligence and accomplished. She was the mother of five children, two who survive, R. A. Scales and a daughter, Miss Scales, who lived with her mother, also several grandchildren, who loved her devotedly. The News Democrat and their many friends extend deepest sympathy to the bereaved ones. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
