(8 Nov 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): MRS. P. N. SHONES (sic) DEAD. Mrs. Louise Shones (sic), wife of Phillip Schones, was taken suddenly ill with locked bowels on Sunday and died Tuesday morning. She was 45 years old. The funeral services were held today at the Schiedel where interment was made with Grubitz & Son in charge. Mr. Schones and family lived on the Brenizer farm. (Washita County). The many friends of the family deeply sympathize with them in their sorrow. We trust that some friend will send us a fitting obituary for next week. (15 Nov 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): OBITUARY Mrs. Phillip N. Schones died Tuesday morning, November 6th, 1923, at her home one mile south and one and one-half miles east of Elk City, aged 45 years, 5 months and 22 days. She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, two sons and six daughters. Two daughters, married, Mrs. Johnnie Lanferman, who lives 9 miles northeast of town, and Mrs. Corbet Lewis, one and one-half miles southeast of town. The other children are at home with their father. All of the children were at her bedside. She leaves three brothers and two sisters, Mr. Joe Harold, Mrs. Anna Bockes, Mr. Phillip Harold, Mrs. Rosa Wickmon, Mr. George Harold, who live in Winicha county, Iowa. All were unable to attend the funeral. Also many other relatives and friends mourn her loss. She was of a kindly disposition, with a smile for everybody, carrying sunshine wherever she went. Every acquaintance was a friend. The funeral services were held at the Schiedel church 3 1/2 miles southeast of Canute, conducted by Father Geereart.
