All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ SHARP, ELIZABETH (Jan 1916, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Elizabeth Richie was born Nov. 6th, 1838, near Cameron, Mo., and died in Elk City, Okla., December 29th, 1915. She lived in DeKalb county, 59 years. She was married to John F. M. Sharp, December 14th, 1855. To this union 10 children were born, seven of whom are now living: J. M. Sharp, Maysville, Mo.; John F. Sharp, Kidder, Mo.; Mrs. J. A. Lewis, Tahlequah, Okla.; Mrs. Albert Bray, King City, Mo.; Mrs. Alva Scott, Okarche, Okla.; Mrs. J. H. Rawley, Winston, Mo.; Mrs. Geo. T. Gordon, Elk City, Okla. One daughter died in infancy; Marion M. Sharp died Oct. 19, 1896; Emery Sharp died July 27th 1899; John M. Sharp, husband of deceased, died at El Reno, Okla.; Oct. 26th 1901. Deceased became a member of the Christian church when about 18 years of age and has lived true to the faith. She has lived in and near Elk City for the past ten years. During the past five years she has lived alone in her own home, near her daughter, Mrs. Geo. T. Gordon. She was removed to the home of Mrs. Gordon during her last illness, where every thing was done to make her last days comfortable, but the time had come when a ripe old age should come to a close. Her passing away was likened to the fading of a flower. The deceased has one sister living in Denver, Colo., and one brother in St. Joe, Mo. She was buried at Elk City, Okla., where her daughter, Mrs. Gordon now lives. She leaves 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Those present at the funeral were: Mrs. J. A. Lewis, Talequah (sic), Okla.; Mrs. Alva Scott, Okarche, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. T. Gordon and two children, Helen and Pansy; one granddaughter, Mrs. A. D.
