SHAW, MARY
(6 Sep 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beach and family returned to Elk City Saturday after
spending the week in Hydro.  Their mission there was to be with Mrs.
Beach's sister, Miss Mary Shaw, during her last days.  She died Wednesday,
August 29, after a lingering illness of about five months.  She was a 1908
graduate nurse from El Reno, and as she never married she was always at
the aid of those who were sick and in trouble, and was lovingly called
"Aunt Mary Shaw" by all who knew her.  She did not have a large circle of
acquaintances in Elk City, but even here there is more than one person who
in a large measure at least, owe their life to her kindly nursing.
At different times Kathlene, Montel, Neal and Julia Beach have each lived
in her home and attended school.  To each of them she was a sort of second
mother.  Una Beach left her hospital position in Hereford, Texas, and
cared for her almost two weeks.  Frank Beach's sister, Aurelia Beach, came
from Havensville, Kansas, and after the funeral spent a few days in Elk
City.
