OK OLIE WINSTON SHELTON Posted by Joan (DeFore) Garvey for Elk City Library Elk City Paper, Beckham Co., OK September 13, 1936 OLIE WINSTON SHELTON Olie Winston SHELTON, son of John A. SHELTON and Sally Winston WALKUP Shelton was born April 9, 1894 in Adair County, Kentucky, and moved to Oklahoma in 1898 where he grew to manhood. On November 27, 1913 he was united in marriage to Miss Grace CARTER. To this union were born three children, all of whom were living at the time of his death. They made their home on a farm near Elk City until the year 1927, when they moved to Texas. Then in 1932 they moved near Elk City Oklahoma whee they resided at the time of his death. Mr. Shelton was loved and respected by everyone who knew him and was a kind and loving husband and father. He met with an antomobile accident on the evening of September 7, which caused his death the following day at 1 o'clock, Sept. 8, 1936, at a local hospital in Shamrock, Texas. Winston was preceded in death by his mother, June 27, 1927, and his father, January 20, 1935. He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, Grace SHELTON, a son Arba SHELTON, two daughters, Dortha and Betty Jo SHELTON all of Dill, Oklahoma, Five brothers and four sisters: Mrs. Jennie ALLEN, Crawford, Oklahoma; R. D. SHELTON; D. SHELTON; Dewey SHELTON, all of Elk City; Buster SHELTON of Sayre; Quinton SHELTON, of Elk City and Miss Opal SHELTON of Austin, Texas and one aunt, Mrs. Antha SHELTON, of Elk City, and six uncles and a number of other relatives and friends.
