LEWIS (Obituary) January 30, 1927 SALLIE W.(WINSTON)SHELTON Sallie W. SHELTON died in LaSara, Texas, June 27, 1927. Funeral services were held at the home of J. B. LEWIS June 30 at 3 p.m., Rev. MOSLEY officiating. Burial in Belle View Cemetery. Geo. R. Grubitz & Son in charge. Sallie W. WALKUP was born August 19, 1874, in Adair county, Kentucky, and died at her home in Lasota, Texas, on Monday, June 27, 1927. She was united in marriage to Mr. John SHELTON on February 11, 1892. To this union were born eleven children. Mr. and Mrs. SHELTON moved to Oklahoma in 1899, where they lived until January 1927, when they moved to Lasota. Mrs. SHELTON had been in poor health for several years. She was a loving wife and mother, a true friend and neighbor. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. Her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. O.G. WALKUP, and an infant son, Odem(?), preceded her to the grave. Mrs. SHELTON united with the Baptist Church at the age of fourteen. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Jennie ALLEN, Stella, six sons, O.W., R.D., Delton(?), Dewey, Buster and Quinton, brothers, L.G. and W.W. WALKUP. The funeral services were held at her old home nine and three quarters miles south of Elk City Thursday afternoon at 3:30, where a large crowd was gathered to pay their last respects to the loved one. Rev. MOSLEY assisted by Brother WICKARD conducted the funeral and the body was laid to rest in the Belleview Cemetery. Bro. MOSLEY paid a beautiful tribute to the life of the deceased. The funeral arrangements were in charge of Grubitz & Son. A precious one from us has gone, a voice we loved is still. A place is vacant in our house that never can be filled. We shall meet, but we shall miss her; there will be one vacant chair. We shall linger to caress her as we read our evening prayer. True, they tell us that a crown of glory shall ever deck her brow, but this soothes the anguish only, sleeping on our heartstrings now. We shall meet but we shall miss her, for she was the sunshine of our home.
