Shelton. Funeral services for Dellon Shelton will be held at 3:30 pm Tuesday in the Martin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Boyd Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Martin Funeral Directors making the arrangements. Mr. Shelton was born Nov. 8, 1900, the son of area pioneers, John Anderson Shelton and Sally Walkup Shelton. He died at 8:15 pm, May 8, at the age of 87. He lived in the Hammon Community under the land run of 1907, when he filed on the family farm in the Bellview Community just southwest of Elk City. He married Ruth Broddrick Shelton Feb. 15, 1926. This union was blessed with three children, Mrs. Russell (Ann) Trissell, Mrs. Bee (Virginia) Coy and John Alden Shelton. Except for two years in Cordell, Mr. Shelton lived and farmed in the Highway-Elk City area. He moved to Elk City in 1969 and had enjoyed doing odd jobs around town since his retirement from farming. He was a member of the Prairie View Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters, and his only son, John. Family members surviving him include his wife, Ruth, of the home; his two daughters, Ann and Virginia; seven grandchildren, Terry Trissell and Dr. Kathryn Trissell of Elk City, Darrell Trissell of Clinton, Mrs. Sherry Hockett of Santanta, Kan., Mrs. Donne Thompson of Bakersfield, Calif., and Mrs. Bobbi Schneider of Slymar, Calif., 13 great-grandchildren, also two sisters, Bessie Smith of Borger, Tex., and Opal Spears of Austin, Tex., and two brothers, Buster Shelton of Mead, Kan., and Quinton Shelton of California City, Calif.
