SHELTON, RUTH

Ruth Shelton.
Funeral services for Ruth Shelton will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday in
the Martin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Boyd Whitehead officiating.  Burial
will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Shelton was born Jan 17, 1903 in Decatur, Tex., and died early Friday
morning at the age of 86.  In 1907, the family moved from Texas to a farm
north of Carter.  Ruth attended the Kempton and Carter schools.  She was
married to Dellon Roy Shelton Feb. 15, 1926.  Except for two years in
Cordell, the Sheltons lived and farmed in the Highway and Elk City area. 
They moved to Elk City in 1969.  During the late 50's and early 60's she
worked as a nurse's assistant at the Community Hospital. Mr. Shelton
preceded her in death in May of 1988.  Mrs. Shelton was the last of her
family.
Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Ann Trissell of Canute and Mrs.
Virginia Coy of Elk City.  Also seven grandchildren and 13 great
grandchildren.  Mrs. Shelton was also preceded in death by one son, John
Alen Shelton and seven brothers and sisters.
