SHIELDS, WILLIAM NORMAN
(20 Feb 1919, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
"BUD" SHIELDS IS DEAD.
William Norman Shields, familiarly known as "Bud" Shields, died Tuesday
afternoon, February 18th, after an illness of pneumonia.
Mr. Shields would have been forty-one years of age the 7th of next
September.  He has lived in Elk City a number of years and was well known
to our people.  Much regret is expressed by his many friends over his
death.  He was a big hearted man, true to his friends and with a smile for
all.  Having received injuries from being thrown from a horse several
years ago, he was not as strong as he might otherwise have been, and when
disease laid hold on him he was unable to overcome it.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Grubitz Undertaking
parlors and the body was interred in Fairlawn cemetery.
