SHOUGH, ETHEL
(8 Jul 1926, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
This community was saddened last Sunday when the news was learned of the
death of a beloved friend, Mrs. Ethel Shough.  She had been sick but a few
days and her death came as a shock to all.  We extend sympathy to the
sorrowing ones.

MRS. HENRY SHOUGH
Mrs. Ethel Shough (nee Eller) was born June 26, 1886, and died at the
local hospital on Sunday morning July 4, 1926, at the age of 40 years and
8 days.  She was married to Henry Shough in 1907.  To this union were born
three children, 1 daughter Clara Mae and two sons Richard and Reuben.
Mrs. Shough had not been well but her condition was not thought to be
serious and on Thursday she grew worse and Saturday evening was taken to
an Elk City hospital where she underwent an operation.  She stood the
operation fine and all hopes were felt for her recovery until the
following morning when she began having sinking spells and passed away.
She was a loving wife and mother, always looking at the bright side of
everything and her many friends were numbered by those who knew her.  Her
funeral was held on Monday, July 5, in the Broadway Methodist Church of
Elk City, by Bro. Raleigh Reed, of Merritt, who spoke of the high esteem
in which she was held.  She was laid to rest in west Fairlawn Cemetery. 
Mrs. Shough leaves to mourn her demise her heart broken husband and 3
children, her mother in Idaho and 4 brothers and a host of other relatives
and friends.  We all extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones and
especially the family who are in such deep sadness.
