F. Siglin passed to her heavenly reward last Saturday night at 11:45. Although her recovery for the last several days was considered very doubtful, yet our citizens were startled when the news of her death was announced. Elizabeth Mutchler was born April 12th, 1886, in Lincoln, Ill., died April 6th, 1918, in Elk City, Okla. Her parents, Jacob and Martha Mutchler, moved to Oklahoma in 1901. She was married to L. F. Siglin January 25th, 1905 in Cheyenne, Okla. To this union were born two children, Hazel and Margarette. Mrs. Siglin was converted and united with the Presbyterian church several years ago. She was a devoted wife and mother. Hers was an unselfish spirit. She delighted to give help and joy and comfort to others. She had been ill for about two years, and a great sufferer. All that medical skill and loving hearts and hands could do to keep her here proved vain. She leaves to mourn her departure from this life, a faithful and loving husband, two sweet little girls, Hazel, eleven years old, and Margarette, ten. One sister, Mrs. Kate Sandel, Noble, Okla.; Five brothers, John Mutchler, Elk City; Adam Mutchler, Missouri; George Mutchler, Kimberly, Idaho; and Will Mutchler, Elk City, and an aged father and mother, who reside on a farm near Elk City. The funeral services were held Sunday 4:15 p.m., at the First Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. R. Pouck. The church was taxed to its utmost capacity, many people being unable to get inside. The large concourse of people and the beautiful floral offerings were very substantial testimony to the high regard in which Mr. and Mrs. Siglin are held. The remains were laid to rest in Fairlawn cemetery, a large company following the casket to the tomb. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
