L. Richards had died at Wichita Falls, Texas, on Monday from scarlet fever. Hattie Joe was in the Richards home in Elk City, for several months, attending school here, and also was with them last summer in Weatherford. She had endeared herself to Mr. and Mrs. Richards and they loved her as their own. She made friends here and her little schoolmates are indeed sad over death. She was a lovely child and it seems so hard to give up one so young. She was nine years and an only child and her parents were giving her every advantage, and had great hopes for her future. The mother is very ill with scarlet fever and the home is quarantined. The funeral will not be held until after the quarantine is raised. The body is at an undertaking parlor in Wichita Falls. The burial will be at Denton, Texas, the birth place of Hattie Joe. The deepest sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved ones. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
