SIMON, CECILIA ROSE
(3 May 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
DEATH OF YOUNG GIRL.
Cecilia Rose Simon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Simon, east of Elk City,
died Friday evening, April 27th, after a few days illness.  She was ten
years old the 21st of last December.  She was born in Mt. Vernon, Kans.,
and came with her parents to Oklahoma seven years ago.
The funeral services were held Monday morning at Schiedel church (Washita
County) in charge of Rev. Herenthal.  A very large crowd attended the
funeral, school having been dismissed and the scholars attending in a
body.  Many beautiful floral offerings covered the casket, the gift from
friends, the school and her teacher.  She was dearly loved by her many
friends and all knew her as a child of sweet disposition and lovable in
character.  She was very studious in school and would have finished the
Fourth grade this year.
An aunt, Mrs. Nick Martin of Audila, Kansas, came to attend the funeral.
Her parents, three brothers, Henry, Willie and Ralph, and six sisters,
Louise, Anna, Regina, Lavina, Merceda and Berneda are left to mourn her
loss.  An infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Simons died last year.
The bereaved ones have the deepest sympathy of all in their sorrow.
