Funeral services for Joseph Thomas Sims were held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon in the Grubitz and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. C. V. Covey, pastor of the First Christian church officiating. Mr. Sims had not been in good health for some time and succumbed to pneumonia at the home of his brother, Edd Sims, here Monday. Mr. Sims had lived in Breckenridge, Tex., for the past ten years, but he has been at the home of his brother here for some time. Mr. Sims was born December 25, 1867, in Fulton, Missouri. When four years of age, he moved with his parents, to Texas where he lived until 1898 when he came to Elk City. He became a member of the First Christian church when a young man. He was married to Mrs. Georgia Yates, March 12, 1906. Besides his widow he leaves two brothers, R. E. Simms, of this city, and W. W. Sims, of Poteau; and four sisters, Miss Emma Sims, of Elk City, Mrs. Dora McClendon, of Norman, Mrs. L. M. Carlton, of Clinton and Mrs. F. Ragains, of Bokoshe. Interment was made in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
