(21 Sep 1904, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF A. J. SMITH. A. J. Smith, Father of Mrs. George F. Sisson, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 1904, at his home in Carthage, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years. During the last eighteen months he was a great sufferer, enduring it all with patience, and submission to powers that rule all things. Expressed his willingness to go, said he was ready to meet his Creator. A. J. Smith will be remembered by a great many of our old timers and friends from Hammon and surrounding country. In 1897, 1898 and 1899 he was in the employ of Geo. F. Sisson at Hammon in a general store. Then moving to Carthage, Missouri, having one married son; one married daughter and one unmarried daughter all living at that place. Mrs. Geo. F.
