SMITH, A. R.
(17 Jan 1918, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
A. R. Smith was born in Sacrimento (sic), California, Aug. 9, 1833, and
passed from earth at Erick, Okla., Jan. 10, 1918.  Thus making him about
85 years of age.  Mr. Smith spent his early manhood in the old Indian
Territory and Texas.
He was twice married.  To the first union were born three children, all of
whom live on the Pacific Slope.  To the second, but one child was born,
Mrs. Bessie Herring, of this City, with whom Grandpa had made his home for
a number of years.
Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Noblitt, at the Christian Church,
after which the body was laid to rest in the Erick Cemetery.
