All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ SOLLERS, ISAAC (5 Apr 1905, Roger Mills Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Isaac Sollers. Isaac Sollers, died at his home in this city, Friday morning, last, of heart disease. Mr. Sollers was an early settler in this country, and is well known in every locality. For a number of years he has been a Star route mail carrier, he and his sons carrying the mail on several routes. Isaac Sollers has been a prominent worker in religious and temperance causes from the beginning of his residence here. He was prominent in the organization and maintenance of the County Singing Association, holding prominent positions in that organization. He was leader of the Elk City class. He was a consistent and active member of the South Methodist church at this place, occupying the position of superintendent of the Sunday school. He was also a member of the executive committee of the Law and Order League of Elk City. Isaac Sollers was an uncompromising advocate of what he regarded as right; and an outspoken opponent of all he regarded as wrong. You always knew where to find him on all important, public measures. The community has lost a good man, the family a devoted father and his church a constant and active member. In Memoriam Isaac Sollers was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, October 11, 1845. Joined the army at 16 years of age and served four years, receiving two slight wounds in battle. He was married to Miss Laura F. Howell in Austin, Texas, July 14, 1869. His wife died at Berlin, Oklahoma, March 9, 1902, where he was burried (sic) by her side. Deceased joined the M. E. Church South in May 1861. He leaves eight living children, all grown to man and woman-hood, consisting of five sons and three daughters, two of the children having died before him. Isaac Sollers died in Elk City, March 31, 1905, in the sixtieth year of his age.
