(8 Mar 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): The entire community was deeply grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. W. Sparks, who passed away at her home on West Broadway, following an illness of several years. Funeral services were held at the Broadway Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Webb was in charge after which interment was made in the Fairlawn cemetery. The profusion of flowers and numbers of friends who gathered to pay the last respects to the departed, testified more than anything else to the love and respect Mrs. Sparks commanded. Mrs. Susie Sparks was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, on October 12, 1864, and departed this life at her home in Elk City on March 4, 1928, aged sixty-three years, four months and twenty-one days. At the age of seventeen she was married to Wm. Voight. To this union two children were born, J. T. Voight of Elk City, and Alma Adams of Waco, Texas. On July 4th, 1893, she was married to W. Sparks at Arlington, Texas. The Sparks family moved to Elk City about twenty-two years ago and have resided here since that time. In November, 1923, Mrs. Sparks suffered a stroke of paralysis but had almost recovered within a year when a serious accident compelled her to take to her bed where she has stayed for the past four years. On March 30, 1919, she was united with the M. E. Church, South, of Elk City and lived a consistant christian life ever after. She leaves a husband, one son, one daughter and two sisters, Mrs. W. B. Pearson of Waco, Texas, and Mrs. W. B. Andrew of San Antonio, Texas, along with a host of friends to mourn her departure. Mrs. Susie Sparks, wife of W. M.
