All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ STAHL, JOHN (11 Aug 1927, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): John Stahl was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, April 12, 1851, and died in Elk City, Oklahoma, August 9, 1927; age 76 years, 3 months, 27 days. Funeral services to be held at St. Joseph's Church Saturday, August 13, 1927, Rev. Father Geerhart officiating. Burial in Fairlawn Cemetery, Geo. R. Grubitz & Son in charge. John Stahl, for many years proprietor of a meat market in Elk City and well known in business circles, died at his home here August 9th, aged 76 years, three months and 27 days. Mr. Stahl was born in Waukasha, Wisconsin, April 12th, 1851. When a small boy he went to Milwaukee where he learned the meat business, living there until he came to Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Here he met and married Mattie Cooper, to which union was born four children, Mrs. Lawrence Wallace, Lloyd, Buster and Claude, all of whom survive him and who are residents of this city. His sons are still carrying on the business which he started, the Palace Meat Market on South Main street. The family came to Elk City in 1907, when he and O. L. Johnson established the Elk City Packing House. Later the business was dissolved and the Palace Meat Market was started. The funeral was held from St. Joseph's Church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Father Geerhart conducting the service, and interment was in Fairlawn Cemetery, Grubitz & Son in charge of arrangements.
