STEEL, ROBERT LEWIS
(3 Jan 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Robert Lewis Steel died December 25, 1928, in Roswell, New Mexico, at the
age of 30 years, 11 months and 2 days.  His home was in Roswell, New
Mexico.  Funeral services were held at the Grubitz chapel, December 31,
1928.  Interment was made in Ural cemetery.  Grubitz & Son, funeral
directors, in charge.
Robert L. Steel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard C. Steel, was born January
27, 1898, in Vanzan county, Texas.  He died December 29 (sic), 1928, at
the age of 30 years, 11 months and 2 days, in Roswell, N. M., where he and
his family had moved since April.  He moved to New Mexico in an effort to
regain his health.  About two weeks ago, he became ill with the Flu which
proved fatal.
The body was brought to Elk City accompanied by his wife and two children,
and brother Horace, and sister Ruth.  Services were held at the Grubitz
funeral parlor at 2:00 p.m., December 31, 1928, Rev. G. G. Perkins
officiated at the ceremony.  Interment was made in Ural cemetery.
Mr. Steel came to Beckham county with his parents in 1907 and grew to
manhood in the Ural community.  He was married to Ruth May Allen, daughter
of C. W. Allen, June 30, 1917.
To this union were born three children, Raymond, Joyce and Ellen.  The
infant Raymond, died in 1920.
Those who survive him are his wife and two children, father and mother,
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard C. Steel, two brothers, Horace C. and Clyde H., and
sister Ruth.
