G. Steele, had passed away Tuesday night. Someway she seemed to belong to all, being the daughter of Supt. Steele, who had been with our schools in Elk City so long. Three years ago when little Glenna was born there was much rejoicing in the home for she was the first girl, and her brother about eight years old thought there never was such another sweet little sister. She was a beautiful child, looked just like a doll; had such a sweet disposition and was admired by everyone for whom she always had a smile. Everybody loved her. Little Glenna was taken ill with the measles, followed by bronchial pneumonia. It was thought Monday she was getting better when there came other complications which the little sufferer was unable to combat. Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at the M. E. Church South, where she was christened when a babe and where she had been such a faithful attendant at Sunday School. Though a snow was falling, the church could not hold the friends who came to bid the little one goodbye and to give comfort to the bereaved ones. There were not many dry eyes in the room, strong men weeping with the women and girls. Rev. Adams gave a comforting message among other things he told of how little Glenna loved Jesus and during her illness she asked to get upon her knees so that she could say her prayers. Hundreds of people viewed the remains after which the body was taken to Fairlawn cemetery for interment. The News Democrat family join with the host of friends in extending deepest sympathy to the family in their sorrow. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
